  • Although the bamboo resources are widely distributed in the Emei Mountain area, various kinds of bamboos have different growth time of bamboo shoots. To find suitable edible bamboos for giant pandas, feeding studies were made of eight bamboo shoots in the Emei Mountain area. The results showed that there were five kinds of bamboo shoots suitable for feeding giant pandas from April to October in each year, thus providing an important food source for the ex-situ conservation of giant pandas.
