Abstract: Investigations were made on the effect of typical management modes of desertification control demonstration project in typical counties (Ruoergai County and Litang County) of the typical desertification control demonstration project,aiming to sum up the experience and to provide scientific reference for the smooth implementation of desertification control projects in Northwest Sichuan. Management strategies were put forward for different degrees of sandy land. Mildly sandy land with above 40% coverage was managed by the way of the enclosure and reseeding of mixed grass and by applying proper organic fertilizen. And as for moderately sandy land with 25% to 40% coverage,and severely sandy land with 10%~25% coverage, in addition to the desertification land enclosure and reseeding grasses,the shrub should be planted for sand fixing. The way of managing extremely severe (less than 10%) desertification land needed other configurations of sand barriers.
