Genus Desmonyx of subfamily Rutelinae is recorded from China for the first time, the illustrations of male
Desmonyx humeralis Arrow, 1907 is provided for the first time. The genus
Desmonyx is characterized by a combination of characteristics, including its body small, antennal club long in male, surface of pronotum unevenly covered with deep, large punctures which mostly confluent deep wrinkles, and elytra with yellowish spot around humerus. The discovery of this genus in Yunnan brings the total number of genera in subfamily Rutelinae in China to 27.
