Abstract:
Heliocopris bucephalus (F.) is a large-sized dung beetle distributed in the Oriental Region. This species was listed as a national category II protected animal in China since 2021, but investigations and reports on this beetle are quite scarce in China, and the distribution record in Sichuan Province is unclear. During the surveys of insects in arid valleys in the recent two years, the distribution of this species in Panzhihua, Sichuan Province was confirmed. The identification characteristics and photos of this species were provided, and its geographical distribution in China was briefly discussed. The voucher specimens were kept in the Invertebrate Collection of Mianyang Teacher's College.
