Screw pressing-steam distillation for extraction of Litsea pungens essential oil and Seed oil

  • Essential oil and seed oil were extracted from Litsea pungens using a screw pressing-steam distillation method. The study investigated the effect of pressing temperature on the yield of essential oil and seed oil. Results indicated that the highest yields of Litsea pungens essential oil and seed oil were achieved at pressing temperatures of 120°C and 140°C, respectively. According to GC-MS analysis, the main components of the essential oil were α-citral, β-citral, and D-limonene. Saturated fatty acids accounted for the highest proportion in the seed oil, mainly lauric acid and capric acid, and the pressing temperature had a certain effect on the contents of the main components.
